FROM VISION TO CREATION
Despite being a smaller shop, our goal is to provide everything that a larger jewelry store does while combining it with the top notch customer service that you can only find at a small business.
We begin the custom process with a consultation where Mauzie can get an intimate and detailed understanding of your vision. Or, if you only have the start of an idea, Mauzie can help you develop it!
After the consultation and initial deposit, Mauzie will begin to create the first sketches. At this point, Mauzie can clearly define the design, budget, and timeline.
Once your sketch is approved, we bring your design to life through CAD. Your piece is transformed into a detailed 3D digital model, allowing us to perfect proportions, stone placement, and fine details with precision and care.
After the CAD is finalized, we create a wax mold of your design. At this stage, your vision truly begins to take tangible form.
With every detail perfected, your piece is cast in your chosen metal and brought to life by hand. Stones are meticulously set, surfaces are carefully polished, and each finishing touch is completed with intention and artistry.
The result is a one-of-a-kind piece designed just for you, created to be worn daily, celebrated in life’s biggest moments, and treasured for generations.

The timeline varies depending on the complexity of the design, but most custom pieces take approximately 8-12 weeks from consultation to completion.
Custom projects vary widely based on materials, stones, and design complexity. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your budget and create a design that aligns with it. All custom projects begin at $3,500.

Yes, all custom pieces require a $600 non-refundable, but transferable deposit. This deposit will go towards your custom balance.

Absolutely. You’ll review both the initial sketches and the CAD rendering before we move into production to ensure every detail feels right.
We always recommend using new metal rather than reusing existing gold. Casting a new piece requires a significant amount of material, and often heirloom or unworn pieces don’t provide enough usable gold for the process.
Additionally, the gold used in fine jewelry — such as 10k, 14k, or 18k — is not pure gold. These karats are created by blending pure gold with other metals to add strength and durability. Because alloy mixtures can vary, melting and reusing existing gold can lead to inconsistencies in color, quality, and structural integrity.
Refining existing gold is possible, but it adds cost and complexity to the process. During your consultation, we’re happy to evaluate what you have and recommend the best option to ensure a beautiful, lasting result.
We offer trade-in credit based on the value of your gold, which can be applied toward your new custom design, allowing you to honor the past while creating something entirely new.
Mauzie’s Fine Jewelry is owned and operated by the talented Mauzie Mays. An innately skilled and creative artist, Mauzie came to Colorado over 35 years ago to pursue a career in art and jewelry design. Mauzie opened her Centennial location over 20 years ago and has made a name for herself as a talented artist with one of a kind pieces.
Mauzie has an extensive background in the industry including a Bachelor’s of Fine Art (BFA) from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a dual emphasis in painting and metalsmithing. In addition to being a talented jewelry designer, Mauzie is also a sought-after painter and sculptor, and a heart for animals.
